Karlsruhe, February 9, 2007 - ontoprise GmbH has announced that the Stuttgart-based Vector Informatik GmbH, the leading provider of software tools and components for networking in electronic systems, has acquired an enterprise license of the ontology-based search environment. SemanticMiner will initially be used at Vector Informatik to support the worldwide customer service team. A roll-out into other company areas is subsequently planned.

 

SemanticMiner will provide fast access to relevant information from a multitude of heterogeneous data sources in the customer support of Vector Informatik, and will support the service staff in searching for background knowledge stored in the ontology. Sources integrated as content via the ontology include the existing remedy system which is a ticket system for managing customer service cases and the ClearQuest system managing change requirements in the development process. A file server with different drives and the Intranet including the Wiki are also integrated.

 

Thus, worldwide support staff can quickly get a comprehensive overview about already successfully solved requests as well as across documented company knowledge and thus benefit from a targeted support for solving incurring service cases. The system spans different languages and, for example, also provides for retrieving English information when entering French terms.
