Don’t search forever; find it right away.
Employees in knowledge-intensive companies spend approximately three hours per week searching for relevant information. In doing so, they either find too much information, which they are not able to process in time, or too little information - adequate support in making a decision is still missing. From experience, one can say that only about one out of five searches is "successful".
Why is it so difficult for users to find the right information?
- Users are usually overburdened when putting together adequate queries.
- During the search, too many results are received. So, the user is unable to locate the relevant information.
- The users do not know where they can search for the relevant information, as this is distributed across a number of diverse applications.
