The Semantic FAQ-System at ThyssenKrupp Presta enables the users to get high-quality answers to their questions from the FAQ database, which has been enriched by semantic annotations and rated user feedback, by utilizing the SemanticMiner. The Semantic FAQ solution represents a kind of "forum" in which the users’ technical questions are answered and an efficient access to selected, quality-assured knowledge is provided.

Questions, answers and attached documents from different data sources can be searched, filtered and displayed on theintuitive web interface, according to certain criteria. For this purpose question-answer pairs provided by an expert council are entered into the system.

The users can enter a question into the system and get similar questions with their answers as indicated by the hits. Besides the question-answer pairs, a semantic search for guideline documents can also be carried out. If no corresponding question is found for the terms entered, these documents will be searched according to the entered terms and indicated in the hit list.

After the search the question-answer pairs and documents are rated by the user. This provides information to the editors about which questions and documents are of use or which can be deleted from system. Based on this the editors assign a certain status to the documents. Thus an up-to-date status and the quality of the knowledge base are guaranteed permanently.
